De hecho, hay algunos problemas al usar hplip-3.20.6 en Ubuntu 20.04. La instalación se queja de pyqt5. Mi solución es instalar hplib-3.20.6 con la opción personalizada (en lugar de automática). Puede instalar hplib sin soporte qt (sin: Interfaces gráficas de usuario (Qt5)). En una terminal, ejecute:
./hplip-3.20.6.run
Ahora puede seleccionar la instalación personalizada y deshabilitar qt5:

Hay una solución, tomó un tiempo. Acabo de compilar hplip 3.20.9 con Qt5.
