Miniatura
Para mostrar miniaturas, Dolphin necesitará el complemento de miniaturas.
Miniaturas de video para el delfín:

Ajustes
Para usar la miniatura, debe habilitar la miniatura desde la configuración de Dolphin.
En una terminal
sudo apt install ffmpegthumbs mplayerthumbs kffmpegthumbnailer
luego … cambie la configuración de Dolphin como dice en la respuesta de user26687 … funciona para mí kubuntu 14.04lts en la computadora portátil n4010 dell
Ahora en Ubuntu 15.10 necesitaba otro paquete para mostrar las miniaturas:
sudo apt-get install kio-extras
