El comando, pip install –upgrade pip, instala todas las versiones de pip

Solución:

Yo mismo respondo a mi pregunta.

Para encontrar la causa del problema, creé y probé un nuevo virtualenv dentro de la instancia de beanstalk.

En primer lugar, pip install --upgrade setuptools, pip install --upgrade pip trabaja apropiadamente. Pero después de actualizar pip a la última versión (2020.3.2), pip install --upgrade setuptools hacer el mismo problema. Y cuando bajé pip a 2020.3.1 usando pip install --upgrade pip==2020.3.1, ¡resolvió el problema!

Entonces, la causa raíz es pip2020.3.2. Parece que pip 2020.3.2 ya está lanzado (https://pypi.org/project/pip/20.3.2/). No estoy seguro de por qué está instalada la versión tirada.

Lo probé en Linux / 2.9.16 (python 3.6), MacOS11.0.1 (python 3.6, 3.9) y obtuve los mismos resultados.

De todos modos, espero que esto ayude a otros que están teniendo problemas similares.
